Your Marriage Ceremony
The rituals and traditions of joining in marriage have changed over
the centuries. Before 1753 there was no formal state involvement in marriages.
Individuals just made their vows in the presence of others. In the 1500s,
the Church became involved in celebrating the ritual but it wasn't until
1753 when the Lord Hardwicke's Marriage Act required that all marriages
take place in the Church of England, a Jewish Synagogue or at a Quaker
Meeting.
Now you can return to those early days and celebrate your joining in
any meaningful way that you chose. This is your wedding and it can be
designed to include aspects of traditions and rituals that are honored
and cherished or new and exciting. Perhaps you wish to include children
or family members. Maybe you wish to borrow from another culture that
you have found meaningful.
Are you dreaming of yards of satin and lace in a flower filled garden
or do
you envision the summer solstice moon shining down as you exchange
your vows? Whatever your dreams, whatever your thoughts, we can work
together to make those dreams come true!!
